Expeditors International rated most vigorous logistics company in Asia.

Singapore, May 18, 2007 - Fusion Consulting, a business intelligence consultancy, today released the findings in its latest Business Vitality Index™, covering the largest players in Asia’s logistics industry. The Logistics Business Vitality Index report analysed 19 contract logistics and total logistics solution providers ranging from $500 million to $13 billion in revenues.

US-based Expeditors International topped the ranking with its 73 operational centres spread across all 14 countries included in the survey, 50% of its $4-billion revenue coming from Asia-Pacific, a solid three-year track record of 20% annual Asian sales growth and a flexible range of logistics services ranging from planning right through to final delivery.

UPS, though it derives less than 20% of global logistics revenues from Asia, has been investing in infrastructure and technology and growing rapidly in the region, notching up an impressive average of 47% annual Asian sales growth from 2003 to 2006. UPS was placed second in the Business Vitality Index. Among UPS’ innovations for Asian markets is its new generation of hand-held computers for its drivers in Asia, featuring a Global Positioning System, day-long battery life and four wireless communication technologies.

Another American player, Eagle Global Logistics, ranked third in the Index, reflecting its 90 operating centres across all 14 countries, and 30% annual growth in the region in recent years.

“With an increasing focus on The Customer, major logistics players have been on the look-out for new ways to create value. The more advanced companies are offering tailor-made solutions and supply chain management services that stress partnership as opposed to simple logistics services,” said Peter Read, Director of Fusion Consulting Singapore. “This has enabled them to be better placed to keep ahead of the competition, as reflected in the Vitality Scores.”
