Rohm & Haas is the most vigorous chemical company in Asia-Pacific, according to the latest Chemical Business Vitality Index[TM] report from Fusion Consulting, surpassing its chemical and energy sector peers with a winning combination of regional presence, revenue performance and innovation. BASF ranks equal first with Akzo Nobel in terms of innovation; over 50% of BASF's Asia-Pacific sales are locally produced, thanks to increased production in the region.
In the relatively niche gases sector, Air Products has benefited from demand for gases used in semiconductor and LCD production to become the number one player in the electronics manufacturing powerhouses of Taiwan and Korea. Third in the ranking comes specialty chemical company Huntsman, with the best top-line financial performance in terms of Asia-Pacific share of global sales and revenue growth in the region. New manufacturing facilities in Singapore and China, as well as the acquisition of Ciba's Textile Effects business, have contributed to Huntsman's strategy of selecting differentiated business opportunities.
